“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring on offering and come before him. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”

1 Chronicles 16:29

Our annual giving represents an act of worship in which we thank God for our blessings and symbolically return the first fruits of our labor as an offering to the Lord. The Bible teaches us to give a tithe or the first ten percent of what we earn to God and God’s work.

Give Now

“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1

Stewardship, which means to serve as one who manages another’s property, finances or affairs, is not just a means for the church to raise money. For Christians, stewardship is a way of life that recognizes that everything we have is God’s, and we are simply managing those resources while here on earth. Through our stewardship, we are the heart, spirit and hands of God, reaching out in love to share with our world.

Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, people will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.” 2 Corinthians 9:13

Our tithes and offerings support our church’s ministry and mission. Over the years, we have committed our resources to God, and God has truly blessed and used them to change lives, transform communities and renew the church. A true worship experience that combines music, praise dance and poetic gifts; Intentional spiritual formation through bible study, and church school; Youth activities, Men’s Ministry and Women’s Missionary Society; Compassionate Outreach efforts such as Volunteer Outreach Services; Women’s Missionary Society; and Prayer poured out and shared in the spirit, face-to-face, by phone, even online are a few of the ways that Gregg Tabernacle has sought to live out its missional vision. There’s still much more that God has for Gregg Tabernacle to do.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27

At Gregg Tabernacle, we have four membership expectations:

To worship regularly.

To continue to grow in your faith by participating in a small group study.

To serve God with your hands, by volunteering in service to the congregation and community.

To tithe or give in proportion to your income as you grow into tithing.

We don’t tell you how much you should give to support the ministry of the church, but the Bible teaches us to give a tithe or ten percent to God. For many, the tithe is just the beginning, and they experience the joy of generosity by giving far more to God. If you are currently not tithing, our hope is that you will commit a percentage of your income and increase that amount as you are able in the future until your reach the tithe.

“Each year we ask every member of Gregg Tabernacle family to return an annual commitment card, committing their tithes and offerings for the coming year. The process of prayerfully asking God to guide your decision and then making a commitment with your financial gifts is an act of worship, an expression of gratitude and praise to God and an opportunity to serve God with your financial resources.”

Every ministry area, as well as, church operations and maintenance are all supported by annual giving. The annual commitment cards make it possible for our church to budget, plan and expand our ministries in the coming year.

Begin with prayer – As you thing about your commitments to our annual giving, please begin with prayer. Thank God for blessing you and ask God for guidance and discernment. Recognize that your offerings express both your desire to serve the Lord and your investment in God’s work.

Assess Your Finances - This is a good time to look at your budget. What does your spending say about your priorities? If you’d like to learn more about biblically based financial management, Gregg Tabernacle offers financial classes to assist you.

Make a Commitment - Determine the % of your income that you will give in the coming year, and complete your Annual Giving Commitment Card. For some, tithing is a goal each year. For others, it is the starting point, and giving in excess of this is the goal. If you are not yet tithing, consider taking a step toward the tithe this year. Celebrate the Power of Generosity – Giving is an act of worship, and on Commitment Sunday (December 1, 2013), we will present our commitments to God during the worship hours. This is an opportunity as a congregation to express our gratitude to Him, and renew our commitment to being God’s stewards in the world. Begin now to thank God for the blessings you have and will receive; and ask Him to bless and use your gifts to further build His Kingdom.

Prayer of Faith

Dear God,

I humbly acknowledge that everything I have comes from and belongs to you, and I come to you filled with gratitude and thanksgiving.

Lord, I desire to serve you and to invest in your work through my church. I ask for your wisdom and courage as I seek to determine your will for my life as it relates to the sharing of my gifts and resources, time and talents.

Please accept my gift and multiply it to fulfill your plans for the Church through the missional ministries of Gregg Tabernacle African Methodist Episcopal Church.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Doing Ministry in a New Way

God has given us a vision and has challenged us to commit our hearts in faith to share the love of Jesus Christ in our community. With God’s help, we can endeavor to give back to the Lord through our regular tithes and offerings.

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgiving to God.”

2 Corinthians 9:11-12

Give more. Risk more. Inspire more.

The power of generosity begins with our simple decision to generously return to God a portion of the blessings He has provided to us. We know that the true power will come from God when our gifts accomplish far more than we can even imagine.
